Museo del Oro
Un recorrido por 10 mil años de historiaEl Museo del Oro Quimbaya en la ciudad de Armenia, tiene a disposición del público una gran muestra que consta de 550 objetos prehispánicos expuestos de una bella forma en sus salas.

Todas las piezas expuestas llevan al maravillamiento, al asombro y al orgullo por las culturas prehispánicas y las de los pueblos indígenas propios del Triángulo del Café.
Algunos de los objetos que se destacan son los poporos, o recipientes para cal y coca en forma de frutos; cascos y coronas de oro; variedad de narigueras, pectorales, alfileres, pulseras y variados adornos zoomorfos que exaltan la construcción ética, estética y utilitaria ancestral.

Orfebrería y cerámica pueden ser vistas a través del uso de novedosas técnicas de montaje y de materiales que facilitan su observación y garantizan su conservación. Temas novedosos, imágenes llamativas, audaces alternativas de exhibición y múltiples tipos de iluminación, permiten al publico regional, nacional e internacional apreciar el maravilloso legado de nuestro patrimonio arqueológico y cultural.
La arquitectura del Museo del Oro Quimbaya es otro gran deleite. Diseñado por Rogelio Salmona, uno de los más importantes y reconocidos arquitectos colombianos, la obra se caracteriza por su fuerte vínculo a las raíces latinoamericanas, el amplio uso del ladrillo y concreto a la vista y el uso del agua como elemento conector mediante canales.
El Museo Quimbaya cuenta además con sala de exposiciones temporales, centro de documentación regional, sala de lectura infantil y parque al aire libre con hermosos jardines.
